June Volunteer Spotlight
Laith has been volunteering between 2-3 days with 'We Are Knutsford' since the beginning of April. He was initially a food shopper at Booths where he would speak to the customer direct about a shopping list or a member of the help desk team provided in advance. Any food items that needed substituting, he would never hesitate to pick up the phone and call the customer, then headed to the famous till 14 which had assigned cashiers to take payments over the phone for volunteers. Once paid, he would deliver the shopping to the respective home addresses together with a warm greeting at social distance.
Laith then moved to click and collect boxes from the Co-op, where customers got all of their every day essentials in one box. Outside of this, he also volunteered during Easter, to deliver Easter Eggs (with a Peter Rabbit bunny) to houses in the local area that displayed a rainbow in the window in support of key workers and the NHS ... and .. on VE day collected home baked cakes from numerous households in the Knutsford that were kind enough to provide and deliver to a local nursing home for the residents.
Laith also did a light review of some policies and procedures for the website, but he said he can't take credit for them, that's one for Zoe & Claire! He also supports the Hope Central Charity a few hours a week doing packing (for deliveries) at the Welcome on Longridge and also delivers hot food for the newly launched "meals on wheels" service which is rolled out by their master chef!
"I have received great support by both We Are Knutsford and Hope Central, such a lovely team and their work is invaluable to the community," Laith explained, "especially during this time in our lives."
Thank you Laith!
